I honestly admit i'm not brave enough to try a test bios. Has anyone else tried it yet? Has asus finally added all that tweaked memory goodness?

I have been running the beta version of this BIOS for about a month now. Using this BIOS I am able to overclock my 550E to 825 using 150mhz FSB, I was only able to run at 804 before the upgrade. My Sandra memory scores are much better than they were, (don't know if Asus tweaked the memory or if it is attributed to the faster FSB). At any rate I am happy as a lark!!!🙂😛

Jellybaby, the zip file that I downloaded did not have any documentation with it, just the rom file. Is there somewhere that has the changes listed?

I can't get the file. Tried different sites and no go. Anyone else have this problem? I'm thinkin they pulled it. 🙁

edit: The Taiwan server had it. 🙂

igowerf, if nothing came inside the zip file we're in the dark. I'm really sick of this lack of documentation. I want to be informed before I upgrade. 🙁

Yesterday, I emailed Viahardware.com's Jasper about the test bios and he posted an update. He even mentioned my name! Anyways, he said that according to some forums, the test bios increases memory speeds and allows for higher overclocking.

Edit: Jellybaby,it is test bios though so I guess we can't expect much. As always, it's just use at your own risk. It would be nice, however, to get some documentation.

Lately I noticed an annoying treand among software developers witch goes smth like that.... Don't call it BETA version, Call it a TEST version instead... usually it is the same beta CR*P under a Diff. name only it does a better "hype" and PR then "beta"...

First there was GrtRight 4.3TEST and now it is P3V4X 1006 TEST BIOS...

I feel misled...🙁 - call the child by it's name!

Ok. I finally updated to the 1006 bios. It caused random crashes and freezes in windows. I didn't see any memory score increase and I couldn't overclock any higher. I did however put a small hsf onto my clock generator and now my 3dmark score is about 50 points higher.
