P3B-F bios update

Obviously I have an Asus P3B-F mb. Am presently running a PIII 450 and want to know if a PIII 850 will work after flashing bios with latest update. It says it will on Asus web page but would like confirmation from someone who has done it or knows someone it has worked for.
Thanks in advance.

I believe that your m/board has to be at least version 1.03 to natively support a slot1 coppermine cpu ie m/board supplies the correct default voltage for booting.
nevertheless, you can still run a coppermine if your board is older by using a flipchip & a slocket with voltage adjustment. you'll have to have the latest bios as well!
