Hi,

I'm a noob in overclocking and a real beginner. I have build my first rig with the following components:
P35c-Ds3r rev 1.1
Q6600
OCZ2N1066SR2GK
Zalman 9700

My bios is set up like this:
Advanced BIOS
Hard disk boor priority= Press enter
first boot device = floppy
Second boot device = cd rom
third boot device = hard disk
password check = setup
hdd s.m.a.r.t. capability = enabled
limit cpuid max. to 3 = disabled
No-Execute Memory Protect = Enabled
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) = Enabled
CPU Theremal Monitor 2(TM2) = Enabled
CPU EIST Function = Disabled
Virtualization Technology = Enabled
full screen logo show = disabled
init display first = PEG
Power Management Setup
HPET Support = Enabled
HPET Mode = 32-bit mode

PC Health Status
Smart FAN Control Method = auto
Smart FAN Control Mode = Auto

MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)
robuust graphics booster = auto
CPU Clock Ration = 9 X
CPU Host Clock Control = Disabled
CPU Host Freq = 266
PCI Express frequency = auto
C.I.A.2 = Disabled
Performance Enhance = Standard
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = auto
[Memory Frequency(Mhz) 1066 1066
High Speed DRAM DLL Settings = Option 1
DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) = Manual
CAS Latency Time = 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5
DRAM RAS# Precharge = 5
Precharge delay(tRAS) = 15
Act to Act delay = auto
Rank write to read delay = auto
write to read delay = auto
refresh to act delay = 0
refresh tp precharge delay = auto
tRD = auto
tRD phase adjustment = auto
*******system voltage optimized********
System Voltage Control = Manual
DDR2/DDR3 OverVoltage Control = +0.4V
PCI-E OverVoltage Control = normal
FSB OverVoltage Control = normal
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control = normal
CPU Voltage Control = normal
Normal CPU Vcore = 1.287500V

When i try overclocking my bios starts up then shutsdown and resets to the above settings. For overclocking I only change the folowing settings , lets say I OC from 266 to 300:

CPU Host Clock Control = Enabled
CPU Host Freq = 300
PCI Express frequency = 100
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = 3.2
[Memory Frequency(Mhz) 1066 960

The problem is that if I save my settings my bios starts up. than stops after the cpu ( 9*300 = 2700) line with just showing the memory test line. I don't have a clue what i'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Drummen,

Start by reading the second thread from the top in this forum about overclocking the C2D and Q2D CPUs. You'd be better off following the advice in that thread step by step.

At first glance, however, your Vcore is too low and you'd prob be best keeping your system memory multiplier at 1:1 (or 2.0 as it is on the P35C mobo). Make sure you keep an eye on your temperatures if you're increasing the voltages.

Good luck.

System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = auto

That should be set to 2.0 and set multiplier to 8, and cpu host freq to 400.

That will give you 3.2 ghz with a good speed bus.

Hi, I've tried setting it up on a fsb of 280 with a memory multiplier of 2.0 and it still restarts after the bios hangs.... Could this be the voltage that is has a standard setting of 1.28750 a is on normal setting?

Also tried 400 with the 2.0 multiplier... with a multiplier 7, doesn't work either...

Well guys, i figured it out. I'm using 2 western digital mybook external harddisks. In the bios there is a setting "legacy USB Boot Device" which was enabled.

By disabling this it posted through the boot and is overclocking like sunshine....
