P35 VS P45: What's the difference?

I'm starting my build within the next three weeks, and one of the parts that I'm still not sure about is the MB, I was planning on using a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L and liked the reviews it's been getting on Newegg. But I've been worrying about how long it'll last and if I should upgrade to the P45. The only real difference I know of between the two is the CF support, but I've heard it isn't really worth running CF on a P45 anyway, and I definitely can't afford a X38/X48 board (especially since I don't know if I'll ever even want to use CF).

Is there any reason I should upgrade to the P45? I'm making a moderate gaming system that'll also be used for schoolwork and some photo/music editing/recording.

I don't know if you still on this thread or not, but just an info.
I've tried to review my overclock processor at p45 and p35 (DK P45 and IP35)

3dmark06 is slightly faster in P35.
In P45 --> 129xx
in p35 --> 130xx

Since the main different is the PCIE lane, which is 8x at P35 and 16x at P45, and comparing with those result, I don't think there's no need to upgrade to P45 for all P35 user.
At least I switch back to the P35 again .

main difference is the crossfile setup, the P35 has a x16 - x4 arrangement and the P45 has a x8 - x8 for both of the PCI-E graphic slots.

IIRC the P45 uses the ICH10 southbridge, the P35 uses the older ICH9.

Other than that not much difference between them, certainly not enough to warrant going from a decent P35 setup to a P45 setup.

Also, doesn't the P45 have PCI Express 2.0? That means a P45 x8 slot provides the bandwidth of a P35 x16 slot (assuming the video card supports 2.0).

If I already had a P35, I wouldn't bother upgrading. If I were buying new, I'd get the newer chipset because it might (or might not) have more support going forward.

that's pretty much it, and yeah I forgot to mention that the P45 has PCI-E 2.0.....not that it makes much difference anyway.

Also, P45 is 65nm while P35 is 90nm. By the looks of things, P45 isn't really overclocking all that much higher, so we'll have to trust it runs a little cooler. PCI-E 2.0 is the major attraction. Since there are P45 boards in the same price range as P35 boards, and enough time has passed to sort out any early BIOS bugs, might as well go with P45.
