P35 vs G35

I will need virtually no graphics.

Can you disable the onboard graphics of a G35 and then have just as good of a motherboard as a P35 ?

Do G35's overclock as well as P35's in some cases ? I plan to do medium overclocking at most.

If I go with a G35, I may just let the onboard graphics suffice, thereby stealing a little from my CPU. But, if putting in a super cheap video card would still improve performance more than insignificantly, I would do so. What do you think ?

I'm asking because I may find a great deal on a G35 or a P35 and will need to act fast.

Thank You.

Answers to all your questions: Yes

Said that, there are only two choices: Either Intel branded G35 (no overclocking) or ASUS G35. Thankfully ASUS G35 board is a very, very good mATX board.

Meh...why spend $140 for G35 when you could spend $90 ~ $100 for a board with equal core features such as CPU, RAM, and storage support, toss in a $25 PCI-E graphics card that offers superior graphics performance and video decoding than even G45 will offer, with change to spare?

Your chosen contenders are a weird dichotomy, anyway. P35 is strictly found on ATX boards, while G35 is strictly Micro ATX. You would consider G35 only if you required or strongly preferred Micro ATX and integrated graphics. Even so, the G35's integrated graphics just isn't worth the premium unless you can't install a graphics card in your chassis for some reason.

If you don't require Micro ATX, the merits of G35 are even more difficult to see. And if you're willing to consider P35, you might as well spend $20 more for P45.

I did not relize that it was a weird dichotomy;😕 until lopri responded. 😀

When I found out there was only one G35 that lopri would consider, and I didn't want a micro, I began to look only at P35's and, of course, P45's. But, I didn't know that only micros were made for G35's until you said so.

Thanks for the link to the great deal.
