I would probably go for the P35 if you're not planning to SLI for over a year.

I have both a eVGA 680i (which i use with SLI 8800) and a P35 Asus P5KE-Wifi. Both are great boards. The P35 Asus was easier to OC and easier to maintain. Never crashes... EVER. It was also way way cheaper at around $130. If you don't really really really need SLI, don't get the 680i boards. Too expensive period. My P35 is also very good for the Quad Q6600 I have in there -- runs it easily at 3.3 Ghz.

You could try and get a used P35 board... can you use eBay? or a local newsgroup that deals with computer parts?
