P3 and slocket

Can I take my P3-700Mhz speedstep coppermine and put it into my 440GX motherboard which has the SLOT1 interface? I think that my P3 CPU is in the FC-PGA form factor, but I'm not sure if that's what it's called or not (Its the small square type). I know that there is a device that I believe is called a 'slocket' or something like that. What exactly is the name of this device and would it work for what I want to do? Also, will the speedstep still work through the slocket converter? Will the GX board recognize my CPU? Thanks!

probably have to check w/ mobo manufacturer... i dunno jack about GX boards...

i ran a p3-700 on a slocket in a BX board fine... but it can depend on lots of things, like what voltages the board supports...

I wasn't sure about the GX chipset, but I did some looking and it seems that it is a Slot 2 chipset. Is that correct? If that is correct, the only Slockets or Slotkets I have seen are for the Slot 1 chipsets. That would prove to be incompatible with your motherboard.
