P3 850 potential

Does the P3 850 have much overclocking potential? It is 100 FSB so i would imagine that it could get to 1 ghz easily. Anyone have any luck with it?

Basically, I want to get to 1ghz with the highest possibility of succuss, short of actually buying a 1GHZ processor.
I would think that the 850 would do it. I am wanting to pair that with the new ASUS CUSL2 board with i815 chipset.

The PIII 700 with cB0 stepping seems to be the most cost-effective route to go if you are trying to hit 1Ghz. As long as you have RAM that can hit 143Mhz FSB, you should have no problems attaining 1Ghz.

If you don't think your memory is going to make it, go with the 750. You are going to cap out around the same speed (1Ghz)with any of the Coppermine processors due to core limitations.

That, of course, is my opinion. 🙂

Ahhh, thanks for the info. In that case, it looks like the 750 would be best for me. That is a socket cpu, right?
I would like to pair it with the new Asus CUSL2 M/B. Any recommendations for good RAM and good cpu heatsink/fan?
