Right-click My Computer and it shows as P II--will this affect my speed at all? Or is this normal?

Win98 does not know what a PIII is. See if there is an inf update for your motherboard, usually a cd that comes with it. :)

Really? But I bought my MB over two years ago (I think--memory getting hazy ;)), a BH6. Can I pick up an inf on the web? And where does it install?

BH6 still works good today if you ask me. Just make sure to update the BIO's to the latest.

As long as your CPU is identified correctly by the Motherboard during bootup, don't worry if Windows 98 could not correctly identified your cpu.

Your other alternative is to upgrade to Windows ME.
