P3 700 or P3 750?

The average Pentium III 700 had an overclock speed of 955 Mhz and the average Pentium III 750 had an overclock speed of 950 Mhz. I'm trying to pick which one will be the best to get to a stable 1Gig and I just don't know which one to pick. Anyone?

PS: averages were taken from www.overclockers.com

How do you get a "guaranteed" chip? I usually get my chips from my dad so I'm not use to ordering it myself.

If you're getting a S370 chip, the 750's is as good a choice as any. However, if ur using S1, the 750 doesnt' oc to 1ghz too well (personal experience) but it usually hits 933mhz which is the 700's to 133mhz fsb, so get the 750's anyways, Lol.

I've not seen one that does a gig. It's usually the chipset that's the prob. I have a 700 that does 933 (133) at default. No probs. It's going to be for sale in a week with an Alpha P3125. Prob about $160...

I'd say the 700. Try to get a CC0 or CD0 stepping. The CB0's are iffy. A new retail box PIII 933 is $135, $147 for a 1 GHz @ Googlegear.com. It may be easier to just go that route.

I've got a 700 that will do 1GHz (1.8v, SK6 & quiet fan).
Contact Compuwiz1 about which one to get. He's seen a ton of them!
