Im guessing maybe a bios update could fix this?

Any guess's guys?

i think the bios is from 1998 or some sh*t.

EDIT: Ok i tried LBA mode and all that and it still doesnt reconize.

the bios is : Award Modular Bios v 4.51 p6, BIOS REV 1.02.02

I cant seem to find a update? Anyone has a good site with older bios updates?

Go into the BIOS and look for different HD settings.

You may need a BIOS update, or you may be able to change a setting in BIOS.

LBA mode comes to mind offhand.

What brand of motherboard is it?

You need to go to the manufacturers site and see if the motherboard, and subsequent bios updates, will support a 120g hard drive. If not you will have to get a pci controller card like the promise ultra tx100 controller card, for your system to recognize the hard drive.

I actually recently installed a 160g hard drive on a andara barebones i built for my b-in law years ago.[which does not recognize a 160 hard drive. I beleive it recognized 137g]. Put the pci card in and partitioned and formatted the hard drive and then took the hard drive off of the controller and put it back on the motherboards IDE controller and to my suprise was recognized by the old motherboard as a 160g hard drive. I have never read of this happening, so i really did not know it was possible, I knew that if run on a controller card it would be recognized with proper amt of space. To make a long story short I was able to keep my controller card in my possession, and he was able to get the full benefit of haveing a 160g hard drive on hardware that did not support it.

Actually it should recognize at least a certain amt of the harddrive. Definitely a bios update is in order.
