I've got a Slot 1 (not socket or anything with slotket) on an Asus P3V4X.
I was just wondering...
[*]What kind of CPU temperatures should I be getting? (getting around 120 deg F)
[*]What should the core voltage be? (I'm getting around 2.05V, with no option for a lower vcore setting...)
[*]Anyone have one of these overclocked? How high do they go? Overclockers.com's CPU database doesn't have it in there

Thanks in advance

I'm assuming that you've got a katmai core cpu with 512Kb external L2 cache.
in that case your core voltage is correct & so is your temps (assuming load temp)
as for o/clocking, 112fsb is probably the highest you'll get if you're lucky! :)

well the default FSB is 133. It's the P3-600B with a 4.5 multiplier. I managed to get over 142 :)

<edit>My bad. I totally misread your post.</edit>

But consider yourself lucky to take it to 142FSB. You are nearing the limits of the Katmai core. The 600 was the last Katmai, and it wasn't intended to or expected to ever be taken much farther.

Okay I think I hit the limit too, on this mobo, anyway. Its an old Gigabyte 6VX-4X or something mobo, so the next step up on it (no jumperless BIOS! DIP switches... AAHHHH!) is 152MHz, and it posted once, but never again. hehe.

i thought the FSB was 100 (defalt) with a multiplayer set at 6.. that's what mine is

i have my FSB set at 133... *can goto 140 but it sometimes doesn't post*

but temps.. 120 is about right.. the default voltage is 1.65.. i have mine at 1.90v and it stil runs cool.. 40C

There are 4 Pentium 3 600's:

P3/600 512K 1/2 speed cache (Katmai) 100x6/2.05v
P3/600B 512K 1/2 speed cache (Katmai) 133x4.5/2.05v
P3/600E 256K full speed cache (Coppermine) 100x6/1.65v
P3/600EB 256K full speed cache (Coppermine) 133x4.5/1.65v

They all came in both Slot1 packaging. The Coppermines were also available as FCPGA "flip chips".

It sounds like you have a 600E. Nicowju has a 600B. The Coppermines overclock considerably better than Katmai's. A 600E should be able to do at least 800 with 1.75v or less and decent cooling. It is not wise to run a Coppermine at 1.90v for extended periods of time.
