I was just curious if most of these chips were easily overclocked? I've got one running at 770 (140 FSB) with just an orb and some arctic silver at 1.8V. is this common or am I lucky? I think a 40% overclock is pretty good.

mine hits 825. I think it'll do higher, but my motherboard can't support any faster FSB

had mine @ 860, but my second ram stick was stable to only fsb 150 so i was @ 830 for a while, but recently down to 800 just to be safe :p

I bought a slot-1 version about a year ago and 825 MHZ was a walk in the park for it. Might have went a little bit higher but I never tried it.

Most will overclock to 733, but it takes varying amounts of voltage to do that or more. In general, I think the slot1 550e's are better overclockers than the FCPGA's. Yours is average, maybe a slightly below average overclocker. 1.8v is plenty to feed a coppermine. I have a 550e@803 with the default voltage. It will do 825/1.7v, but I don't like bumping voltage so I run 803.

I have a P3 500E that will o/c current to 700Mhz at default voltage and is 100% stable.

I had a 550e (slot 1) that did 881mhz on my BE6-2. Lovely chip, and it did it at 1.7v! or 850 @ 1.65.
