IMO even newer machines don't really NEED more than 256MB. I mean, what the hell are you doing that's so resource-intensive? I have 256 and I can keep PhotoShop, WinAmp, Pontifex (bridge-building game), and 10 Internet Explorer windows open without major hassle.... the average person does NOT need more than 256MB! If you were running a server, I'd say go for it, but if it's just a normal personal-use machine, I'd say adding 256MB is not worth it.

When I run AutoCAD (multiple drawings), photoshop, Word, Excel, and Project, I need the extra 256 MB of RAM

run the game....then hit ctrl-alt-del. Look at the task manager and performance. If you see that you are well below your RAM usage, then upgrading will do no good....

I'd get it. I have 768mb. The extra 256 when I went from 256 to 512 definately felt quicker. Games felt quicker loading in. Once in the game there weren't any gains though. Just loading in to CS a bit quicker:)

Get it its cheap. I wouldn't get the extra 256 if it was pricey though........but if its chepa get it....
