P3 1 GHz unlocked multiplier?

i just read a review that tells me the p3 1ghz coppermines (socket 370) have unlocked multipliers.... is this true? my motherboard has an 8x multiplier. how can i check if this is true?

Sorry, those kind of P3s are not available to the general public. They are known as engineering samples. Intel multiplier locks all of their chips.

Some reviewers get engineering samples of unlocked processors but these are not available to the public and Intel goes to extreme lengths to ensure any of the unlocked engineering samples do not make it outside of authorized hands.

All OEM and retail P3 1GHz processor are multiplier locked.
