nice

A peer-to-peer group says it will cover costs for a 12-year-old New York girl who agreed to pay record labels $2,000 to settle a file-swapping lawsuit.

P2P United, a peer-to-peer industry trade group that includes Grokster, StreamCast Networks, Limewire and other file-trading software companies, said Wednesday it had offered to reimburse Brianna Lahara and her mother's payment to the Recording Industry Association of America. Lahara's mother agreed Tuesday to settle copyright infringement charges on behalf of her daughter.

I'll laugh my butt off if the supposed 30% dip in sales due to copyright infringement turns into a 50-60% dip in sales next fiscal year due to public backlash. :p

Not gonna happen because the only peeps who care about what the RIAA is doing are the ones who the RIAA is sueing... which is the people who havent bought CDs in 4 or 5 years...

That's ludicrous. I don't download music, but I think what the RIAA is doing is loathsome-- those are the same people who bought/buy their music. Going after 12 year olds and gramps is disgusting. In anycase, I only listen to music when I'm driving, and the last time I checked, the radio is FREE to listen to. :p
