Hi,

The act of P2P file sharing of your own or non copyright material is not illegal.

The act of distributing (through P2P or otherwise) someone else's (i.e copyrighted material without the owners permission) is illegal.

Hope that answers your question,

Andy

The same reason trading cdrs is not illegal. It all depends on what exactly is being traded. If I have a cdr full of open source/free software or software I wrote myself, I can give it to someone. If I have a cdr full of Macromedia big bucks POS software, I can give it to someone, but chances are its against the rules somewhere. My thoughts atleast.
