P2B-F 32 GB Limitation?

Hi, I have a wierd problem. I have a Asus P2B-F Motherboard
that I recently installed a 60 GB Maxtor HDD into, however
the motherboard only recognizes the first 32 GB of the drive.

I have flashed the motherboard with the most recent BIOS on
Asus's website, (Version 1013a) but it still only recognizes
the first 32 GB.

I have noticed that there's a P2B flash that mentions the
32 GB limitation, but I don't want to use the P2B flash upgrade
for fear of lobotomizing the board.

Do I need a Maxtor DDO in order to surpass the limit? I really
don't want to do that, since the data on the drive is important
and I don't want to go through the hassle of swapping drives
to juggle the data until I get something that works.

That's odd....support for HDDs larger than 32GB was added back in BIOS version 1011/1012 for the P2B-F. It should already be present in the 1013A BIOS.

Perhaps you should try the latest BIOS, version 1013 Beta 007.

If you've got the latest flash, you should have support for MBs
greater than 32 gigs. Currently my ASUS P299 won't go over 32 gigs.
I'd either have to do a BIOS upgrade, use overlay software, or
purchase a PCI controller. Instead I purchased a 30 gig WD..heh...

GregMal: what's the problem with doing a BIOS upgrade?
