I have an old Pentium 200MMX, 48MB ram, a Quantum Fireball 1.2GB HD, and some generic mobo. I removed the Ultra ATA/66 IDE cable and installed an older IDE cable that wasn't capable of that speed. Ever since then, it wouldn't boot up. I took both cables out, checked all jumpers, and reinstalled the cables.. same problem. When it booted, normally it beeps, but it beeped this time and beeped 3 more times, but much shorter and at random. Sounds like a bad buzzer on there, eh? I also have a generic PCI video card and a 3dfx Voodoo2. When I fire the computer up, it recognizes all the drives and boots into windows. Two problems arise... the video does not work at all, during the entire boot sequence, which leads me to believe it is a bad video card or monitor. But when it gets into Windows 98SE, I don't hear the windows sound and the HD light stays on.

I'm clueless.. any ideas?

Can you detach the harddrive and successfully boot with a startup disk?

I have no video.. not sure why. There are a number possible problems, but I don't have the parts to do the switcheroo.
