p2 333 can i unlock/overclock?

Hey,
I have a old descutes p2 333 on a 66mhz bus on a LX board.
I saw some people who have unlocked it and over clocked it to like 450+
How can I do this or where can I find information on it?

If your processor was manufactured before Auguest 1998, chances are it will be unlocked or clock limited. You will be able to use any multiplier from 2 to 5. So if you want to overclock, you should be able to change the mutliplier as well as the FSB.

Probably your overclocking options will be somewhat limited as you have an LX board. Normally they only support 66, 75 and 83MHz FSBs. You would get better mileage out of using a BX or a ZX based motherboard, as they support the 100MHz FSB.

P2-333s seem to do quite well at overclocking....it should be able to reach 4 x 100 (400) or even a little further. If you do not want to replace your motherboard, then the best speed that you can overclock to is limited by the motherboard....in this case 5 x 83 (415).

Yea Im going to pick up some sort of BX board.
See what it can do here.
Why not, i have it i want to run it to the max =D
