p182 cdrom installation

Well it appears that I'm very bad at building computers. It's taken me over 5 hours and all I have done is installed the cpu, heatsink and power supply. I cannot figure out how to install a freaking dvd-rom into this case. I tried pushing it in from the outside, from the inside and tried putting the trays on and different ways. Could someone please explain to me how this works?

Ok if i am not mistaken your case should be very similar to P180....you must have got something that resembles a belt with a lot of holes and a metalic structure on one end, thats you bracket. well your suppose to take them and and attach it to the sides of your CD Rom...somewhat similar to the installation of your hard drive....and try pushing it from the inside/outside of the case...

note the smaller bracket is for your floppy.....

Thats what i basically did.....hope it works out well

once the drive rails are attached, the drive will slide in from the front (outside) of the case, and click nicely into place. pics can be found on the web, if the case manual isn't doing the job for you.

mount side brackets with the metal clasps closest to the opening of the optical drive. insert through the FRONT of the case.

Put the rails on the drive, remove the front 5.25" bezel, and then slide the drive it.

I cant pull the drive all the way out because of the cable but i believe the holes for the screws are at bottom of the clip. once you put the clips on you drive they slide in you will hear a click. to remove you squeeze the 2 metal clips and slide out. Hope this helps

The rails that you attach to the CD-rom are adjustable. You need to make the front edge of the rail even with the front of the CD-rom. You will need to put two screws on each side. One in the slotted hole in the back and one in the hole that lines up when the front edges are even.

That's about my speed, but I usually have a 6 pack down by then too. :beer: 😀
