P180 Window Mod

I'm interested in adding a window to my P180 case. I've seen one sold for like twice the price that's been pre-modded. I'm not sure if a window mod will work because of the thickness of the panels.

Any ideas?

You can cut the panels, they're just thicker then normal cases. It's a thin layer of aluminum, about 1/8 inch of plastic, then another thin layer of aluminum. Be careful though, they're a pain to cut smoothly because of the triple layers. When I cut my Aria (same panel type) the edges of the hole were all kind of rough and sanding it was hard without scratching the aluminum.

I plan on tackling this feat soon as well. I miss my window 🙁

But at the same time its kinda cool to need to open your case at LANs and stuff. It makes people wonder whats really inside your case.

The only thing I'm worried about is finding some side molding that will work with the thick panels on my P180. Most window kits come with molding that only works with thin metal sides, but I guess I won't know until I do it.

Check out www.jab-tech.com

Thats where I bought my last window kit, and it worked great - and only like $6

I didn't cut my panels.

The only valid reason for a window in my book is to check waterflow in a wc setup. P-180 is built for quiet aircooling, imho, and just isn't that appropriate for watercooling, especially with the powersupply located at the bottom of the case.

I remember reading on here about someone emailing the people who sell the P180 with the window already in it to just sell him the window. He bought the window that they use for it for $45 I think it was, so it's still not cheap for a window but it's there to buy. It was performance-pcs.com btw.

Well, the window does make a difference, lol, it makes cooling and acoustic performance worse. 🙂

Also if your into led fans etc the window makes your system look good!!

Why would you cut into a P180???

Doesnt it look good already? Besides from experience windows are really a problem in the sense that if you want it to look good you have to light it, wire manage it, & filter the dirt from the air. Other wise the window just shows of how ugly the inside is 😛

I'm sure there are other windowed cases out there that has good interiors too. Why buy a 180 and poke a hole into it defeating its entire acoustic design? Not like the interior is the best there is.
