P180 Window Mod quesitons

Hey guys - I was wondering if anyone had done (and posted pictures) of a P180 Window mod, DIY style. I saw one premade that you can order online (who knew windows were worth a $90 premium?) but I'd rather do it myself. I just had a few quesitons:

1) Do you think the window should be just the mobo chamber or include the lower psu and HDD chamber as well, as shown here?

2) I know that windows, if done correctly, are not sound problems, as Acrylic panels are great sound dampeners. But how can I seal the edges to make sure it works properly? I Should it be 2-panels? one on each side of the hole in the wall? The way I'm familiar with sealing this stuff is with silicone sealent...but it doesn't look very good if it is visible. Anyone have a better idea?

3) Anything special I need to know about cutting through the wall? I know its 3 layers - but I assume a dremel should be able to handle it - any thoughts on the best speed so I dont melt the inside plastic layer?

And any other thoughts you all have would be a great help.

thanks!

The three-layer side panels will not cut easily and the trim that comes with most window kits isn't wide enough for the P180's side panels. I have looked into this question many times myself being a P180 onwer and gave up. These are your options:

1. Pay WAY TO MUCH for a pre-made P180 window

2. Risk ruining your side panels and DIY with a window kit

3. NO WINDOW = less SOUND 🙂

But in the end it is your choice and if you happen to find a window kit that works - LET ME KNOW!
