I posted in the general hardware forums earlier today about quake4 and FEAR freezing after a few hours of gameplay. I can't ctrl alt del out or alt tab to get back to the desktop in any way. It doesn't freeze with other games, like CSS, CS, D2, COD, etc... Only Quake and Fear so far. How the hell is my videocard overheating? I thought the P180 was supposed to do a good job of cooling...
My rig:

P180
A8N SLI Deluxe
3500+ @ stock /w Xp-120 & U1A Panaflo
eVGA 6800GT @ stock /w VF700
2x80GB Maxtors RAID0
Audigy2 ZS
OCZ 520W Modstream
4x512 Mushkin valueram (3-3-3-8)

I have my top and rear fan as exhaust, my Panaflo on the XP-120 blowing on the CPU, an intake in the upper chamber and 2 intakes in the bottom chamber (I have 1 80mm vantec stealth infront of the bottom HD cage)
Why would my videocard be overheating? My VF700 is hooked up to my Zalman fan controller on a 5V/12V switch and is almost always on 12V. any advice?

I'd be checking for driver updates and patches...

It's not patches or anything like that... Fear had a patch on the first day, and it's installed. Still getting the freezing...

Is anyone else having issues with the game? I know it's working peoples' computers a lot, and they are starting to wonder why. What res / settings are you running at? Have you tried lowering the res / settings (thus reducing load on the video card) to see if there is any change?

1024x768 @ max settings. Haven't tried lowering yet... maybe I'll try that. Although I don't want to

lol you are a nut :p Why do you say its overheating? You give no info about temps....after a few hours of gameplay? lol wow you are a gamer :) It could be several things cRaK...What are your temps after a few hours? cpu/gpu/system(case)? CtrlAltDelete or AltTab'ing out of games does not always work like its supposed to. Its qwerky at best imo. I have much better luck with the Windows key. Anyways, I doubt this is a gpu heat issue.

I had almost that same problem a few days ago with quake4......after about 1/2 and hr I had 2 issues...
My screen would just freeze or my computer would reboot.......

It turned out that even though you would think my card should be able to run q4 at any setting.
I had to lower the video serttings for quake4.
No problems ever since!

Hope that helps!!
