P180 or Lian Li V1000

I presently have a Compucase LX-6A19 w/Mod option 4 from Coolcases.com.
I'm torn between these 2 cases if I thought I could get better temps.
Also, would a PSU w/a single 120mm fan work best with either of these or a PSU w/2 fans?
Thanks.

I have the P180 with an Antech truePower 2.0 which has 1 120mm fan. It works just fine. I use all the stock fans (added one tricool 120mm fan to the drive bay), and a Zalman 9500LED.

My temps are under 40c on the cpu at idle and about 42c on the MB. At full load I have 56c on the cpu and around 48-50 on the MB. I run all the fans at the lowest setting and it's about as silent as you can get.

I run a DFI Lanparty0UT SLI-D @ 260Mhz FSB with an x2 3800+ at 2.6Ghz.

The difference isn't as significant as which you think looks better. And if you pick a quality PSU then you don't really need to worry about the heat the PSU is producing due to the higher efficiency.

the v1000 is probably the cooler case, however it definetly sacrifices silence. It has little holes in the front bezel to let air pass, and unfortunatly noise too. The single 120mm fan psu will be sufficiant in either case and probably quieter too.

I like how the P180 looks myself...I mostly bought it based on it's sleek look. I'm not into flashs light up cases with LEDs blinding me through the huge window.

Back away from the P180.

I went through hell with my P180's parts constantly falling apart. I've been through six front doors, multiple side panels, a spoiler, and one of the screw holes on the back is drilled too high. In fact, the past two doors which have been shipped to me by Antec's customer support arrived already busted. I got so tired of my P180's parts coming apart or breaking that I ordered a Lian Li PC-7b Plus II from Performance PCs. Now, I've got to wait and see if Antec can actually ship me a replacement door that closes properly and a pair of side panels that aren't coming apart; I may just end up selling the P180 for $40 or so once I get suitable parts for it since I wouldn't really feel honest selling it for anywhere near its retail price.

Save yourself some trouble and go with a case that'll really last you.

Dibs on that P180! :D

Anyhow, I like the V1000 and it looks great too, but as already mentioned, not as silent.

The PC-V1100 vs. P180 really makes more sense the V1000. The V1100, has pre applied sound dampening material, and a solid AL door.

cooling is more or less equal in both cases. quality is top notch with lian li and med quality on the antec. the LL is probably quieter and lighter. LL has wheels. LL sides don't scratch even if scratched hard by a screwdriver

Funny...mine was perfect from the day I opened the box. No bad stuff like you claim to have happened. I've build 8 systems around this case and they all have the same reliability.

P180 is a POS compared to Lian Li. Yugo vs. Lexus. Rattley cheap plasticy double jointed front panel vs. thick machined aluminum.

They are not even in the same class. go feel both somewhere you'll be embaressed for asking.

Even better. Couple V1100 with a Seasonic 500W PSU and he won't hear a thing from case.

I can vouch for that. (see sig). :D

And to the OP: Lian Li all the way... but beware, there is no real air-intake on the v1100. Notice the only fan pulling air in pushes it passed the hard drives and then it just sort of fizzles out there... nothing reaches the main compartment. I bought an extra 120mm to put under my 5.25" drives and then a pair of these aluminum mesh covers to allow air flow. Then when it gets warm in the room I open the door a bit, and it drops the CPU/GPU temps a good 5C. Put in a quiet 120mm fan there and you'll be fine temp-wise (this is coming from a guy who was gaming in 107F heat a few weekends ago in California.. this aint some "well it works wonders in my AC controlled room which is always at 63F!" deal). And yes, it will either require some ghetto rigging or possibly drilling/furnishing some brackets for the fan in the 5.25" bays.. but it's really a required mod for this case if you're worried about temps IMO.
