P180 lights not working?

Homerboy

Lifer
#1 why are they behind the door?

#2 mine aren't working. Just set up this case last night, transferring hardware from old case and the Power and HDD lights dont work

any advice? All header pins are set right.

You may need to reverse the pins on the mb.....the power led is not behind the closed door, but the hd is

I know you said the pins were all set right, but just in case, I would do another check referring to the manual of your mobo. I did the same thing before, and it took a long time before I had mixed two of the pins up. 🙁 Then again, maybe you have already double/triple/quadruple checked the pins...

Why we don't have a standard block for power LED, HDD LED, power switch, and reset switch is beyond me.

Can you imagin how many years of your lives you would have back if they were all connected via a block like USB uses now?

It's not like there have been major changes to the spec over the years either. since ATX, we've always had power switch, power LED, HD LED, Reset. Sometimes there are additional LEDs that the case may or may not have. but those 4 leads are used in eery case i've worked on since ATX.

hmm... Did someone patent the idea and are they charging some rediculous fee for ussage?

(*runs off to the patent office to make millions on crazy licencing fees*)

IIRC there WAS supposed to be a standard in place for BTX so the ATX standard was never "ratified" if you will. Since BTX pretty much tanked in everything except OEMs, we're sitting with pin sized crap to deal with still.

Oh and it was the pins on upside down. What was weird was power/reset worked fine.
On that note, yes, the LEDs are WAY to bright. Why do I want to see it coming out of the side of my case? and why put the HDD LED behind the door? How can they design such a nice case, then go and do that?
