P180 annoyance.

Lately something about this case has been pissing me off. I've had this case for a while, and while I love the interior space, PSU seperation, and low noise... I hate removing the side door. Every single time it's the biggest task. Eventually I end up breaking the clips on the door. Why is it so tough?

I rather prefer the single unlocking handle of the Sonata II. One pull one and it completely unlocks. But I guess I'm stuck with this case for now.

That's a strange annoyance. I could think of numerous others with the P18x series but that would never have crossed my mind.

We are in the same boat...

I am a crazy deranged enthusiast and I am having my first experience of building my first pc. The reason I say I am crazy and deranged is because I keep obsessing on which fans are the best and most quiet and I think I have 3 or 4 extra w/ no use, but I digress... I may mod the case later to have these fans in use but it seems like every time I get an idea I have to take off the sides and its not easy when your moving the case on carpet and the case is heavy, o and not to mention, the fact that I got so tired of moving the sides on and off and left them off before it was done and had to replace one fan because my cats chewed threw the wires...

Darn side boards...

I have had trouble with my door as well. It takes me more than a couple tries to get the door on right, and one time I broke off one of the clips that you mentioned on the door. Even now I have trouble getting the side door to fit all the way in towards the front of the case. One good thing about my Lanboy is that the door is metal and the clips are as well.

i dont like the plastic clips on mine, however, i havent had any issues getting them off.

sometimes i have to attempt to put them on twice, but nothing major.

i would prefer metal clips and a better system but this one is far from poor IMO and IME

One note: Did you reverse the thumb screws for the back of the case and the HD enclosures? The ones for the HD enclosures are shorter, but otherwise the two screws are interchangeable. However, if you secure the HD bays with the case thumbscrews then the case will not close correctly and is very difficult to reopen. I know this from experience.

idk, I can't tell the difference between one or the other - they aren't labeled. But the ones on the back of the case are not as bulky.

Stop whining about side doors my P180 has cost me 2 hard drives.
The lower chamber gets so cramped and when I slide the hard drive cage out the sata data connectors gets snagged and simply snap off.
I guess I have to get some of those 90° sata cables to see if that helps.

Looking at the Lian Li PC-101 as a replacement, I hope it's as cool and quiet as the P180.
