When I first got the case I was pretty happy with it running a AMD3200 x2.
but now OCing a E6750 to 3.7ghz i found it to be quite loud when i have fans at high speed with a heatpipe cpu cooler.
I have the P180 old style without the cable management, but still wanted a clean case without spending another $150 on the P182.
So I armed myself with duct tape, industrial strength velcro tape, and utilily knife I went to work.
First I trimed off some of the fins off the front fan intake doors to be better at air flow. they were quite easy to cut with a sharp utility knife. I just used it to score the back of the fins, 2 scores each at the ends. And pressed down with utility knife at an angle from the front. they just broke off quite easy.
Then I wanted to seperate the bottom chamber as much as i could as the top, so I bundled the cable good and used duct tape to cover rest of the holes.
Instead of using screws I used aheasive backed Industrial strength Velco. They are quite strong and it takes some muscle to take them apart, just a warning.
I cut small triangles on the each of teh corners and vwalla, vibration isolation as well as tool less fan removal.
I reduced my case temp by 6c from just doing these mods.
I also tried removing the central fan in the lower HDD/PSU chamber and my HDD's went up to 50c+ during intensive multi HDD access. I have 2 x 32GB raptors and 1 x 120gb 7200rpm WD HD.
So I put the fan back. and HDD's stay below 35c.
Another was that heat from bottom chamber was radiating to the top chamber through the chase, and even when chambers isolated my case temp rose to 35c without the lower case fan.
I have total of 6 120mm fans in the case. I will soon replace the Silenx and the fan that came with the CM hyper212. since they are now the loudest component other than the raptors.
