I have posted previously about my P4 650 in a Sonata II case. After replacing the stock heatsink with a Thermalright SI-120, and setting the rear case fan to high, I have been able to bring temps down somewhat but nothing earth shattering.

But, by running the rear fan at high, the thing is noisy once again. I have been looking at other 120mm fans but to move as much air as the Antec fan, they are loud or louder. There is no benefit to putting a fan with less output in the box.

So, if anyone knows of a fan than can do better than the Antec at high (79 cfm 30dba) please let me know.

Also, I explained the problem to Antec. I asked if adding case insulation would help the noise, they said it wouldn't if it is the rear fan. They also suggested the P150 as an alternative to the Sonata II and I am not sure it would make any difference.

My third choice is the P180. Has anyone had any experience with the P150 P180 and Sonata II cases to know if I would see any appreciable difference in either noise or cooling?

If Sonata 2 is like the Sonata 1 (and they look VERY similar), it sucks at cooling. I think it's designed to be quiet but it's not ideal for overclocking (or for those hot running Intels).

what are you using to measure the temperature? If you are using the mobo BIOS reading, it is most likely wrong. If you are using your finger and your finger is burnt after touching the heatsink, you are probably right. If your system is crashing randomly, you could be right. If the air coming out of your exhaust is too warm, you could also be correct.

Have been using Asus Probe but tried a couple of other software progs. All read about the same.
