I need help trying to fix my Toshiba P105-S9337.
The monitor Shuts off after 8 minutes of computer operations. Even external Monitors shut off. As far as i can tell the CPU still competes tasks.
I dont know if this is a hardware problem or software.
I have checked the bios they are no help.
I am a computer beginner and am trying my best to figure this out but i am afraid i may make the situation worse.

I am currently running windows vista. And i have had the computer for 2 years. this problem started a year ago but i have been unable to address it intil now.
After reading some other discussions it sounds like there is a fix to this problem. But i dont know how i would go addressing it if i can not see long enough to make the changes
does anyone have any fixes or ideas?

Check the screen saver and monitor power saving settings. You can test them to see if that is the problem by setting everything not to turn off the monitor under any condition. If that's the problem, you can then adjust the power settings to suit your preferences.

Have you tried a different video card?
