P100 laptop: is it worth it to try loading Win2k on?

I've aquired this laptop from my father - he bought a new one. Its only got 40 megs of RAM, and a P100 processor. I would like to have Win2k on, but my guess is that even if I can get it to load on, the system will run like a dog.

Right now, its fairly snappy with Win98SE. I will be reformatting (you wouldn't believe the crap that is loaded onto it right now), and haven't yet decided wether to even attempt Win2k, or just save myself the time and go with WinME or Win98.

Try it..... you'll see...... if the installation doesn't take you 5 years, you're lucky......, but yeah, try it hehe

Ouch, no... Win2k's resource requirements are much higher than Win9x...

If it's "snappy" with Win98SE, be glad and stick with that. Installing Win2k will render it useless.

Oh and also, Win2k requires a minimum of 64MB RAM, so you're SOL even if you want to try it.

Yes Win2k is a demanding bitch when it comes to HW requirements, but give her what she wants and you'll both be very happy!

Considering how SLOW Win2k Pro runs on my friend's P200MMX laptop, I wouldn't even think of putting it on a P100. Stick with Win9x or perhaps NT4 if you need a stable workstation OS.
