A couple of times in the last few days I have seen people who were normally pretty rabid acting the diplomatic role. This is pretty startling. People who are normally at each other?s throats are in polite conversations in the forum. Is Armageddon? First the seven years of plague and now the beasts are lying together. This really could be the end of the world!

Some of us wish to respect those caught in this disaster by not playing partisan politics over their suffering. It's a repugnant practice to use this sort of disaster in such ways.

I applaud Don Vito, who I sparred with, for taking a stand against this garbage.

I try to play the diplomat, but admittedly slip into partisan hackery with the best of em. All this bad news is bringing me back to diplomat mode. The name calling and "dick in mouth" comments are getting me down.

This place will be gentlemanly when they ban anyone that uses generic partisan categories to describe people like, liberal or freeper or neocon. I can think of a dozen people that would be banned and should be really.

There's definitely racism in the United States, though we've made great strides. It's my understanding from friends who've lived in Australia (where you apparently live) that there's significant racism there as well. I think, unfortunately, that we are a long way from eliminating racism in the world, and God knows it's not uniquely an American problem.

For what it's worth, there are a number of non-white members who post here frequently.

And what of the racism in your country, Australia right? You guys have got your hands just as dirty with the treatment of Australian aboriginals. And you post your hate here setting a further example of yourself. :disgust:

I would conjecture that there are lots of black people who feel that some progress has been made.

the bad treatment of the australian aborginies is appalling and continues to this day. but how does that have anything whatsoever to do with my comments about your country? please explain the logical connection? do you think that because there is racism in asutralia, I am therefore somehow not entitled to comment on the disgusting revolting sickening racism I see in action right now in the USA?

OK there's no logical connection but then there's no logical connection with your comment about racism here in our country and premise of the original topic of this thread unless you are trying to rpove that the OP was wrong and that some of the members here (you to be exact) can't be gentlemanly about discussing the tragic situation in NOLA.

Uhhhhh, OK. Does this mean you are singlehandedly responsible for every bad act committed by every individual in Australia as well? Why would you assume that all Americans are racists just because you assert some of us are (a proposition with which I've already agreed)?

Huh?

Giving props to DonVito for his stance against bringing politics into this disaster somehow = going against blacks? Seems to me that droping the politics and looking at the disaster for what it is, a disaster that needs the US nation to pull together, is exactly what needs to be done.....for ALL.

The :lips: for condor are the usual partisan love games. :)

Slap it to him. The truth needs to be told. I am sick of people mocking the U.S. with glee as though they stand above. Liars and hypocrits!

It has everything to do with it. It points out your hypocrisy. It shows that your crowing is unwarranted. It shows that you like to jump on people when they are down. Yes, you are entitled to comment, and then we are entitled to point out your hypocrisy with facts about your own situation.

Yeah, he was one of the few people I saw take an active stance against that kind of behavior. I tried to do the same myself, but with my limited posting time and due to the fact that I hate repeating myself, I gave up trying after seeing the same members continuing this type of behavior in other threads.

It just appears to me that some of he rabble rousers have gotten tired of spouting off for the moment. They should return soon as elections are near. Other than that, they have little to say.
