It seems like everyone is an expert around here, so I thought I'd check on a little background...

Locke and Hobbes now included

Guilty on all counts, plus I had floor, hall, and office level credentials to the 2004 DNC which gets me bonus points and an assumed bias :)

I think the Rousseau and Voltaire poll should be stepped up to include Locke and Hobbes.

The church I belong to is the ONE TRUE RELIGION, so only my answers count.

I haven't read anything...
Not proud of this, but i'm on a learning curve.

Politics has less to do with other's views and more to do with being informed and using common sense.
That being said, there are some intelligent views to be heard and considered when moving forward.

nice poll no doubt, but I hardly accept the answers if they are atleast 30% in the Yay instead of Nay about the reading.

All I know is that I know nothing and that that makes a lot of other people look sort of silly to me.

Please, any of you who know something, explain to me how you do, and how you get from knowing to killing others who also think they do.

If a man were able to read and retain everthing that has ever been put to the pen, would he be knowledgeable, or would he just be full of sh!t?

A donkey laden with books remains a donkey.

Where's the 'Are you Mentally Insane?' option? I think a positive on that question is enough in terms of 'credentials' for this fourm.

Who has studied himself mercelessly and without compromise?

What does it mean that in a grain of sand the universe is contained?

Like water doesn't contain two oxygen and one hydrogen atoms among the millions of other things it contains. Water, you may remember is what comes out of your sink faucet. What you mean is the water molecule. You should strive for accuracy when you call others idiots, no?

But you don't really know anything about atoms and molecules except what you have been told by people doing experiments and using machines. So aren't you laughing at somebody else because you have knowledge pretension? There may be a village invisible to you in which you are the idiot.

dammit, have read all of those except the full communist manifesto, remember reading some short one page version in a textbook. i knew those 3 years of humanities GE's would come in handy someday. i was very surprised to see that most people havent read most of the articles/books in question; some people in this forum swear they are the god of all that is knowledge and that anyone that disagrees is instantly a leper idiot.
