We done these in the past, but I would like everyone to post their *real* age, political ideals and maybe a comment on my hypothesis.

I think the younger people (18-29) here will all be extreme left or right on the role of government, and for the most part all socially left. The middle aged people (30-49) will be middle of the road when it comes to state but will all support fiscal balance. These people will be socially left but have we defined limits on these issues (ie. no marijuana; less sex not more birth control, but allow abortions; for unions, not gay marriage). The older crowd (50+) will be pro state, pro-social safety net and will support military efforts abroad.

Basically more social conservatives and pro-staters in the older demographic.

I fit into this prediction. I am 22.

I think it has more to do with where you were raised and the ideals you were exposed to.

Oh I'll bite, so you feel proud of yourself. :p

I'm 30 (for two more months) and on the policompass thing I come out as a very left leaning libetarian. (social libetarian?)

I was born in Iowa, but soon moved to South Dakota, and then back to Iowa, then to Texas. From 1975 to around 1984 in SD and IA, then for the most part 1985 to present in TX. Shouldn't I be some midwest religous right wingnut?

51 and pro social safety net. Actually neutral in my belief in the state in that it needs to do different things than its doing not more or less.
As to military efforts abroad I absolutely support them when its in our best interests. I was strongly pro Iraq invasion til the true evidence came out now strongly anti-Iraq.

I'm 26.

I'm mostly socially liberal. I support gay marriage, decriminalization of marijuana, sex ed in schools, OTC birth control, etc. However, I don't like abortion and would like to see it wiped out in a wave of great sex ed and universal availability of birth control. I support a social safety net with the principal of "teaching a man to fish." If someone is going to school and making progress towards a degree, society should support them, if needed, so they won't need assistance once educated.

Fiscally, I lean conservative. I believe our goal should be a zero, or near zero deficit and a balanced budget. I support a balanced budget amendment with a requirement of a "rainy day fund" for disasters. I don't support our policy of financing wars on Chinese credit. I also believe that our trade gap should be near zero. If any of those means a rise in taxes, so be it, but it would be better to gut military/corporate pork, first.

I only support purely defensive wars, never preemptive.

Edit: I should add that I'm very much against illegal immigration, large scale amnesty/guestworker programs, and am opposed to H1-B/L-1 foreign labor visas. Educate and employ Americans first, even if it might cost a little more.

I'm 21 and pretty libertarian. I come from a fairly Republican family. They didn't try to instill too many of their opinions on me so I feel I've developed my own well enough for the most part.

I'm 22 years old and an anarcho-capitalist. The ideology that best describes me is paleo-libertarian sans natural law..

I'm 18 and... that about covers it. Well, I'll humor you. I suppose I'd be clasified as socially liberal. My philosophy is: do what you like but don't do it around me. Economically I don't really know what I'm talking about, so I won't even bother. As far as war goes... I'm all for preemptive wars, as long as those at the helm aren't dishonest scumbags pushing their own personal agenda without the knowledge or educated consent of the American public. If an honest government--cue Dissipate--with solid intelligence tells it to the American people like it (really) is and garners their consent, that's fine.

My family is very liberal. All of them.

20, and I'm sure most of you know my views on pretty much everything...

FYI, I consider myself socially moderate (slight conservative - against gay marriage, for gay unions, for abortion) and economically very conservative.

I'm 22, rather left leaning on social issues, moderate on economic issues. I believe in the basic ideas of capitalism, but I also support government regulation in some instances, and I support social programs like social security.

Interestingly enough, I find that I am (so far) trending exactly the opposite of Stunt's prediction and the common wisdom regarding age and political views. When I was in high school, I was seriously conservative, almost pure capitalist in terms of economic issues and very conservative on social issues. I believed things like welfare and social security were for stupid, weak people, I certainly didn't support the idea of gay marriage, I LOVED Bush during the 2000 election, I was pro-life, and so on and so forth. But as I get older, I (again, so far) have become more and more liberal. My economic views have become quite moderate, and my social views have done a complete 180. The more I learn about "the way the world works", the more to the left I seem to lean.

Now obviously I don't have a huge sample here, we'll see where I am when I'm 35, but it would be interesting to see if my social views especially become more moderate. My economic ideas probably won't change a lot, as they are already kind of middle of the road, but I wonder if I'll still be as socially liberal in 13 years as I am right now.

21 here.

I'm pretty left but I draw the line when radical Islamist or neo-nazis call for wiping out entire groups of people.

Don't bother talking about age, credentials or education on these types of boards . . .

I have tried to bring up credentials and education before. It is of no use. There is almost no way to validate these claims. The only thing worth discussing here is opinion.

Thus, I deem this survey completely irrelevent as there is no way to validate the responses. Every response given here is simply one's opinion about his or her age / maturity level.

If someone didn't want to reveal their age why would they post at all?
