I've found the 900 to be 30-50 dollars more expensive than the 800EB PIII , which would you choose? Definatly taking overclocking into consideration, but I will only manipulate the FSB on the AMD. Don't want to ruin a 270 dollar chip.
Thanks in advance.

if you are overclocking you can just get a p3-600e and o/c that to 800. the 900 tbird is about $90 more than a 800 tbird, might consider that 800 and o/c it (i've gotten mine to 920 at stock voltage).

I would go with the Tbird. The chipsets are starting to be mature with all bios updates.

get the T-bird!!!!

i got Duron but if you have the $$$$ then the Tbird is the CPU for U!!!! why not get the 1GHz while you're at it? only $345....as opposed to Pentium3 1GHz for $1045!!!!! such a rip off........

i agree, i made myself choose between a PIII-800 and a T-bird 900 after a lot of reading, test-results and advice of experts i choose the T-bird 900. Read Anandtech T-bird reviews and come to the same conclusion!

Where have you found a 1GHZ Athalon for 345? I've seen the P3 for 249 and the T-bird for 250-300 with alot of prices around 270.(personally I think the 250 was a misprint)

well for what I care about the mb/s seem to me to be equal. Via quality aside. I need DMA 66...I tend to upgrade HD when I upgrade puter. So I don't care about DMA 100 Don't care about intel's memory constraints, as I'll probably never have more than 256Megs let alone 512. don't care about amr/cnr...don't care about isa...USB ports are nice but I've seen both options have boards with more than the standard 2 usb ports. I can't think of anything else that would be major that I'd care about.
