Owww... I just started working out again and I have a question

My muscles are aching pretty bad after lifting weights (two days ago) for the first time in a while. No, I didn't overexert myself or anything -- they just have the standard, good, painful feeling that comes after months of inactivity.

I'm wondering what's the best thing to do in the meantime between now and my next workout. Do I need to try stretching my muscles throughout the day? For example, I cannot fully extend my biceps/forearm area without some discomfort. Should I try extended them out all the way? Is that bad or good?

What should I do? Thanks!

good question actually. I'd wait till I know they are recovering and the pain is subsiding before burning them again. cardio would be cool if you do any of that.

taking a good protein supplement like 'designer whey protein' is awesome too, quicker recovery.

Yes, keep stretching as much as you can. Also it wouldn't hurt to exert them a little bit...nothing that will make them more sore, but enough to get some blood into them. It will help them recover quicker.

Muscle aching is normal. You're "supposed" to go to the gym every other day and let the days that you don't go allow your muscles to recover. You should continue to stretch, but don't stretch so hard that you tear something. Try doing other exercises. For instance if you do chest and biceps on Monday, do triceps/legs on Tuesday/Wednesday, back on Wednesday/Thursday, etc. Hope this helps. 😉
