Just wondering how many people here own their own business and make a decent living. A buddy and myself are thinking of having a startup. We're taking all of our advice from Gord. Wonder what our chances are...

After a long session with my accountant today and learning of the royal reaming I am getting on taxes this year, I recommend just working somewhere, getting a W-2 every year and not screwing with it.

Of course thats just because I am in a crappy mood after learning of my tax liability, so in a few weeks my opinion will be different.

That sounds like a great idea. Gord is a very smart fellow (I've been in his store) and you seem to be a very smart individual too. Also, since you are an AT member, you are obviously very sexy as well. This will work to your advantage. Good luck!

Depends on what the business is. It's not exactly prime time for startups. Our three year old family recruiting business is on the bad edge of failing, after doing really well for a while. Paid too many employees just a little too long when they weren't producing.

Heh, that site rocks :p I always wanted to start my own business, but never really succeeded (i'm 14, i've still got a little ways to go :)). I think it'd be pretty cool to have a game store like Gord, get to jump the counter and run down kids stealing games that have a value of about $5 :D
