The OEM package stills comes with a lot of manufacturers. I know it's an option in Dell's config, and it's pretty well standard on eMachines.

I'll have to check my spare machine and see what version is on there

Works has become a good answer to the Application Bloat affecting Office 2000 and higher (especially XP/2002 and 2003), for which a large majority of home and SOHO users have little or no need.

After installing the update over Works Suite 2004 (Works 7), this may be a full version install. It prompted me to uninstall the previous version first.

If you prefer the Works Word Processor instead of Microsoft Word, just install the Works 8 update, not the Works Suite Add-in for MS Word.

I have 2004. When I run the upgrade it says I don't have an eligible version installed.

Any clues??? MS knowledge base and google turn up nothing.

You have Works 7.0? I may have been wrong to say that Works 7.0 is supported.

Works 7.0 is included with Works Suite 2004, so I assumed the standalone version of Works 7.0 would upgrade, too.
