Ok well i just got This sound card for 100USD ( hope i didnt over pay ) Been using onboard for few years now and it sounds really good. Few things i cant figure out.

1. i select the Lin-in 2/Mic 2 ( the jacks on the fron bay ) in the Record Control and any where else i can, but as soon as i enter source it changes to Microphone. This is highly annoying

2. So now when i am forced to tab out change it and tab back in i find the voice quality to be lacking, i cant seem to understand wat i said properly, it may be my mic but i dont seem to remember having this problem with onboard sound.

3. i decided to plug the kic and headset in the back of the card but somehow when i plug the mic in the back i get nothing.

annoying

Yes, you didn't overpay!!
Do you have to have a Dock in the front?
If not go spend $130 and get the new X-Fi!!

This is normal behavior for CS. It happened on my SB Live 5.1 Platinum when they released steam, and it continued to happen on my Audigy1 Platinum. They used to have a checkbox that disabled the behavior of automatically changing your mic input, but they removed it with cs version 1.6.

The response I got from tech support was something along the lines of: They didn't consider it a major problem. I have seen many complaints about this exact issue in their own forums, tech website forums, and creative labs forums, but tech support said they had not seen many support tickets on this problem, thus it was not a big problem and would not be fixed.

Their response to me was to use the mic1 input on my soundcard, when the whole reason I bought the platinum version of the card was to use the mic2 input and the headphone output on the livedrive/audigydrive.

I'd advise you to open a tech support ticket at steampowered.com, and hope for a better response than I got.
