My left ear has been hurting the past couple days but I thought it was a pimple. Well, the pain hasn't subsided yet and it still hurts. I don't think I ever had an ear infection before. I don't have doctor access, is there any over the counter medicine I can take? I don't even know if this is an ear infection, it feels like there is sore part in my ear but it doesn't feel like its under pressure. Any suggestions?

Does it feel deep inside your ear? I usually just wait out ear infections, but I've never had one so bad I wanted to die like most others describe them as. :p

I've had an ear infection / eustacian tube blockage for about 6 months now. I can hear clearly for about 4-5 seconds if I pop my ears but then it gets blocked again. Ughhhhhhh.

Haha...i had both ears infected from swimming in my lake. One ruptured my ear drum the other was just about to rupture. The doctor said I have an unbelievable pain tolerance. The reason i went in was because it did hurt a little, and I wanted them to check it out. That point didnt come until the day I was swinging a golf club around, just horsing around like any high schooler would) and just my luck it hit me by the ear. Wasnt even a bad blow by any means, but it knocked me to the ground it hurt so bad. Damn that hurt.

It feels more like one spot now. Ugh, I just got back from Walgreens and the bastards won't give me anything without a doctor's prescription. :(

aspirin and ibprofin will reduce the swelling if it is a simple infection... however if it is a bad bacterial infection and you are really inflammed you should hit a doctor up but quick...

Take a towel and use an iron on it. That'll get it warm, put it over the ear. Also, when you go outside, if it is cold or windy, wear a headband or something to keep air out.

If you get tired of the iron thing, get a ziplock bag of hot water, put a thin towel or napkin around it if it's too hot and use that. Microwave as needed. :D

if it is an ear infection its not a very bad one. You should probably have it looked at nonetheless. I would get them when i was 5 or 7. writhing pain, impossible to sleep ect. can't hear as well out of the left ear as I can the right ear as a result. Had to get antibiotics of which I can no longer remember the name

Well my gf put some peroxide in my ear and the pain has really subsided. I haven't touched it since so I can't feel it unless I touch it. Hopefully it'll go away. Thanks guys. :)

I wouldn't take any chances, ear infections can be real painfull, I've had a few, go see the doctors and get some antibiotics asap!

Last ear infection I had, I started taking some advil. It worked for a day or two. Then the swelling got out of control. 3 doctors and 3 weeks or so later, I was finally prescribed an antibiotic powerful enough to kill the infection.

My ear had to be drained. The whole ordeal was pretty terrible.

Yes, moist heat.

I would also suggest a heating pad if you have one
