Override refresh rate?

I've got a Samsung SyncMaster 793df 17" CRT monitor and it is suppossed to run 1280x1024 at 66hz. In windows, the highest refrest rate I can set for that res is 60hz. I've tried downloading multires and ati tray tools, but I can't set my refrest rate to 66hz with either of them.

Does anyone know of some way to set it to the correct refrest rate? Or is my monitor bad 🙁

THis is my system:
ATI X800XL with catalyst 5.3's
Athlon 64 s939 3000
DFI Lanparty UT Ultra-d 3/10 bios
80 gig maxtor pata
20 gig maxtor pata
Antec Plus660AMG
OCZ 420W Powerstream
2x 512mb Kingston HyperX pc3200 2-3-2-8

What's your video card? If it's nVidia use their built-in refresh forcing panel. If it's ATi use Refresh Force.

For the ATi card you need to disable DDC in the control panel & run Refresh Force (google it). Run it once and your problems will be fixed. It worked perfectly for me when I had my 9700 Pro.

I forced 1280x1024 and 1280x960 to 65hz using Refresh Force and it now they don't display as available resolutions. I turned off ddc also.

Any ideas?

Use a better program called Refresh Lock (do a google search for it)!!!! It will allow you to set a default refresh for all available resolutions for your monitor, as long as you install the actual monitor drivers for your monitor. Do not just use plug and play drivers. Also, at 66Hz your image will still be horrible. I HIGHLY recommend buying a new monitor, but you will still probably have to use refresh lock, as XP often forces 60Hz, which majorly sucks!!!!!!
