Angelina Jolie

All of her movies - she plays herself. "Look at me! I'm me! See my big puffy carp lips and big boobs? I'm going to adopt another foreign kid, because I need to have another photo-op and for everyone to tell me what an awesome mother I am."

i suppose it was only fitting that this was newell's last post ever

i miss him tbh 🙁

Bryan Cranston. I know i'm gonna get flamed for this, but something is off about his delivery. Trying to finish Breaking Bad finally, and their is an annoying sense that he IS acting out some of his lines and the realism is lost. Show is great, but I find his acting in some scenes distracting.

I actually agree with this. I kind of found the whole show got a bit ridiculous near the end and a lot of that was due to his character. Still really enjoyed the show overall, but him and his character took me out of it at time.

Exactly this. In contrast, I found Dean Norris as Hank, fantastic.

Someone mentioned the double acting in some scenes. I acknowledge those scenes, but those were not what I was referring to

Sorry guys, have to disagree with you! I loved his performance in the season finale, particularly the final talk with Skyler was breathtaking!

I would imagine that's mostly because you identified with the nerdy anti-hero Walter. The guy who wants to leave his family financially set once he's gone. The guy who gets sand kicked in his face and beats the bad guys with science, like something out of a comic book.

The real story is that Walter became a rather nasty fellow who became more than a little full of himself, and that doesn't sit well.

Maybe, I found a lot of the choices White made later on did not fit with the rest of his character. It took me right out of it and maybe it was either Cranston not being able to pull it off or the writing letting him down.

I think Walt's actions were entirely in character. His entire arc went from good intentions to enjoying the power. He lived his entire life as an under-achiever who harbored a grudge over Gretchen and Eliot's success without him. Every tiny shred of power he earned from beating one enemy left him hungry for more. He was addicted to the rush of the game. There were like 10 moments in the series that perfectly trace his character progression from Mr Chips to Scarface. You could ignore the rest of the series entirely and still judge Walt's motivations accurately by those key moments.

Oh, I see what's going on here, it's brainhulk's usual antics.

Here's my list:
Kevin Spacey
Meryl Streep
Robert De Niro
Al Pacino
Ian McKellen
Michael Kain
Tom Hank
Julianne Moore
Judi Dench...

Just to name a few.

OTOH, OP probably think of Channing Tatum and Kristen Stewart as stalwarts of the silver screen.

Yeah, I got that, I just meant some of the stupid stuff he did in the latter part of the show. He's not a stupid man and he made some stupid choices which made no sense to me as a viewer. Maybe it's my fault for binge watching it, but I thought his acting and/or the writing went awry in some of the later stuff.

I would say that Spacey and McKellen lean towards overrated these days. Well, maybe that isn't fair. They were both great at one point, but they've been on "phone-it-in" mode for at least 2 decades now.

You didn't even spell half of their names right 😀

Anyway, George Clooney. The guy has one character (himself) that he plays in every movie.
