Overpriced Opteron's

This is FYI only and nothing more.......

I recently purchased three factory sealed retail boxed 939 Opteron 146 cpu's from a vendor on Ebay. All three of those boxes had the orange colored price stickers on them (where he bought them from I don't know). All three were stickered $110 to $112. Sealed retail box???

This pricing is really bizarre and a mystery to me. FX-57 performance equivalent cpu's for peanuts...won't matter much though as these are all disappearing...

I am very happy with my purchases, but find this whole situation quite amusing :p

Little wonder AMD is putting the brakes on this scenario...

here's my pricing (and this is with my margin).

http://www.flickerdown.com/

if i wanted to push it, i could prolly make a killing on these...however, from my perspective, i'd rather have a solid relationship with ya'll and with AMD than alienate everyone due to my pricing structure.

EDIT: funny how i can't even link to my own site...lol

Dave looks very reasonable  but, the Egg, Monarch, Mucker, etc.. ???

LOL :p

The bigger point in all this is why AMD released these 939's at bargain bin prices which are by far THE best single core cpu available next to the FX-57. They are still an awesome bargain at even 1/3 a cost of an FX-57 IMO.....

Has anyone here done this and gotten CPUs though Dave?

This no money down Queue looks like a great idea, and is obviously no risk to get into the Queue.

My concern is (obviously) after payment, how many recieved the CPUs.

Please don't take offense Dave. Just trying to do my homework before jumping at the great prices.

check out my heat, Voodoo.

:) also, if you ask ANYONE in the AMD processing forums @ HardForum, i think you'd get a very positive response....

that being said, i don't like tooting my own horn or asking other people to post for me. I'd rather have them post their honest feedback on situations. Heat is an ok metric, but given how i'm a business rather than a one-off sales kinda guy, I don't place a whole lotta emphasis on getting pos. feedback that way. if you want to check, i'm "argus333" on heatware.

i believe the last 11 heatware posts have been from clients (spec. opterons).

I hope this helps!

any chance you could shed some steppings on us? thinking about selling from my venice for about $150 seeing as how newegg is pricing them at $190 and its a decent stepping to an opteron 146/8 depending on availability.

i can tell you the steppings i've received and sold. they would be:

144:
CABNE 0544EPMW

146:
CABYE 0540APMW
CAB2E 0540FPMW

148:
CABYE 0542FPMW

165:
CCBWE 0541RPMW

170:
CCBWE 0530TPMW
CCBWE 0534SPMW

i doubt you can get $150 even if it is $190 on the egg.

most people are selling 3000+'s in the $100 to $120 range.
