Just wondering ...

It's pretty expensive in NYC to get a pet-sitter - about $10-20 for a 15 minute walk and $50 for an overnight sitter.

Some single parents pay $100 for a overnight nanny

Now, if the compant requires you to travel, although infrequently say like for a training session - do you get reimbursed for a nanny / pet sitter?

No, your kids are your problem. i have a kid and my company requires me to travel on occasion, I knew this before I accepted the job.

My dad brought me along on alot of his trips when I was growing up. Got to spend several weeks in places like australia, south africa, china, turkey, spain, etc... My mom and sister got their time to bond then, and I got to travel around and have beers all over the world well before I was 21.

And no, most companies dont pay for nannys, and especially not pet sitters.

i don't know of any company that would do that.
A company that did so would be unable to expense off the costs.
The IRS will not allow it for an indivigual or a company.

I'm okay with you getting a credit for it... as long as I get paid the typical credit amount for NOT having a kid or pet to sit..

That's the main reason my answer to your original question would be no.

If I was a single parent, I would have to give up any job that required overnight travel unless I had family close. As for pets, have a neighbor check in and feed or find a kennel. Pets don't need 24hr supervision.

Fair treatment would mean single people deserve a credit too.
Yup.

What I like is that my company wants us to evacuate to another office to work during hurricanes, but they won't pay any of the costs of getting there nor will they pay for hotels.

As a single guy with no kids, I honestly wouldn't mind if the company did pay for babysitting for kids of employees, but it would never happen.
