Overlord Impressions

Modeps

Overlord is an 'Evil' version of Pikmin... evil is in quotes because it doesnt really matter. They reward you for being good, they reward you for being bad. 4 types of underlings, each with their specific strength. Fire, Water, Poison, and Generic

Environments are HUGE... a lot bigger than I originally thought when I started playing. Level Design is for the most part great with a few. Some very entertaining, tough but not frustratingly-so puzzles. Audio is great quality voice acting, some genuinely funny moments albeit a bit too many location specific sayings.

It's a bit repetitive. It's a little easy. Customizing your tower is pointless. Camera control is crap (there isn't any really, just "reset" and "overview"). There's no world map that I can tell (my used copy has no booklet) which makes things a little tough to remember where they are.

My biggest issue with Overlord is that its too similar to Pikmin... a game that I've already played and gotten bored with that long before I finished. I'm already getting bored with Overlord, but am just playing it as much as I can because I'll be returning it Saturday (gamerpoints!).

If you haven't played Pikmin, try Overlord. It's a good game, just not for me to keep around.

I played through it all the way and enjoyed it. My views on the game are very similar to yours. I doubt I would have been willing to buy it at full retail when it was new, but I'd say it makes a decent used game purchase or a great rental (I got it through GameFly).

I played it as a rental through gamefly and thought it was pretty fun, but still just a rental. It got kind of repetitive and boring about halfway through so I stopped playing

I loved it. It's the closest thing to the Dungeon Keeper series to come out since DK2. I really wish that project wasn't closed 🙁
