Overlocking Motherboard Selection (775)

Hi all,

I am new to overclocking.

I am currently using a Q6600 with an Asus P5K-SE. I am told that this motherboard is not particularly good for overclocking. What should I be looking for in a motherboard to overclock with? I will probably be buying second hand as the 775 boards that are available new are low-end.

Well, at this point, I would get a new cpu-motherboard combo, I wouldn;t put any more money into socket 775.

I'd love to but can't afford it at the moment. Maybe I'll just keep running it as I am. Do you think the P5K-SE is overclockable at all?

400fsb is probably pushing it on that board but for your CPU goal don't shoot too high. Maybe 3Ghz

Agreed I've got a similar setup and I wouldn't push the FSB past 400 🙂
