overheating ?????

I just put an athlon 1.2 tbird with an ABIT mobo in a mini tower atx case. Everything seems to work fine until I try to install something. I tried to install the Baldur's Gate expansion and about halfway through it stops and reboots itself. The chip did not come with a HSF on it so I went to another local store to get one. The chip sits almost right next to the power supply so I know the airflow might be a question. A buddy of mine suggested putting a blowhole in the case. Does this problem sound like the chip is overheating and shutting down?

Thanks for the help in advance,
Rog

It's a 16.00 HSF. It's square with the little grease pull tab on the bottom. I'm thinking this thing isn't enough to cool the chip. What temp. should the chip be running at. I know when it restarts and I go into my setup, the temp is at about 130 degrees. Is this within specification of the chip. Hate to sound clueless, but this area is new to me.
