Overheating Problems

i've had some issues with overheating in my computer. the processor (3.2 p4 prescott) would overheat and set off the system alarm anytime the side of the case was on and i was playing any type of game. so i replaced the heatsink with the xp-90 (arctic silver 5) and threw a 92mm panaflo fan on there hoping this would do the trick...it didn't.

i have an abit AI7 mobo and i've heard that Abit boards tend to read a little hotter than things actually are. but i'd like to be able to play games without the system alarm going off.

when playing games my processor reaches 60 c. also, a couple times, i've had my system alarm go off b/c of the power supply reaches 70 c. i just have the generic power supply that came with my powmax case - is this the reason everything gets so hot?

right now, my computer is in a cooled basement with a fan going in my room and after playing 1 game of NBA Live 2005 the CPU started to reach 60 and set off the alarm.

suggestions? should i get a new case? (if so which one) or should i just replace the PSU (if so which one). i'm extremely frusterated with this so any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
the case is a Dynapower Spiden-V (430 W) - they don't carry it at new egg anymore, but i found it on a different website.

i have two fans on the back of the case, and when i have the side of the case on there is another one there. i don't have any more room to put any fans.

got some temps from the case, towards the front of the case it's low to mid 70's. towards the back it's mid to high 70's.
 
I would NOT trust any power supply that came with a powmax case, I'd definatly replace that. 60c isn't a bad temp for a prescott under load, 70c is where throttling kicks in.
EDIT: ACK I missed the not next to the would, I would never never trust a PSU coming wiht a powmax case, and definatly never a powmax PSU, as I had one that blew and took out my motherboard!
 
60C isn't really a problem; as long as it doesn?t go beyond that I wouldn't worry too much. I would invest in a better case and PSU however, you?re risking your hardware powering it with that thing. Why would want to house all that hardware in bottom of the barrel case anyway?
 
do you think the power supply is causing the overheating?

the question then is, can i just keep the same case? will a new PSU solve my overheating problems? the case is rather well ventilated, i have 2 80mm fans on the back, a panaflo medium on an xp-90, and another 80mm on the side window. that should be enough to keep the thing cool, but it still overheats.

let me know what you think of that PSU and if it will solve my overheating problems. thanks!
