Anyways, this just hit me, after reading about southwest and their new "big" policies....

Somewhere around spring break, I was flying back to Ontario, CA on southwest. Checked in my one bag that could easyly pass for a carry-on without a problem, but to conciderate about others, I check it in. But anyways, I get to the gate, 25 mintues to departure, and get plastic card 126, the BROWN group in this case.

I wait for my cattle herd to be called, and walk into the 737-300. I proceed to the back, as all the seats in the front are filled, naturally. I find a few seats in the back, but somehow, other passengers felt it was ok to use the underseat storage for that seat for themselves. I say to myself, OK, move on to the next seat. Same for the rest of the seats, bleh. So, I proceed to look for some overhead bin space, but they were all full! unbelieavble! other passengers had to have their bags tossed overboard down to some handlers, which really ticked them off.

But anyways, if person can only bring 2 things on board, one bag, and one personal bag (purse, smaller backpack), and theres enough space for each passenger to have one of each of these carry ons, HOW can the bins be filled?

Im declaring late passenger boarind discrimation. Bin hogs can buy another ticket, they are using my space that I should be entitled to.

That's the thing - there isn't enough space for each passenger to bring the maximum allowed carry-on bags.

If i found a seat I wanted and someone else's crap was in the footwell, I'd just put it in the seat next to me or in the aisle. I dont tolerate that crap on airplanes. My seat is my personal space for that flight, and I pay for it. No way I'd accept that.

People try to save time by not checking crap in. The airlines should enforce that more. It actually makes the flight late taking off as all those people showing up 10 minutes before departure and board the plane with their big ass totes can't find space in the overhead bins. So what happens, the plane gets delayed further when they have to check in the bag anyway.

Then its a major cluster fudge when the plane lands and people are scrambling up and down the aisles to get to their bags that are six rows back in some other overhead bin.
