I cant decide who to pick to win this.
Nobody knows what kind of conditioning lesnar is in, but anyway, has anyone crossed over into UFC and done immediately well??
Lensar +1 but it's a toss up
I cant decide who to pick to win this.
There is that, then we have the fact that Overeem isnt really a great MMA fighter. This thing can go either way IMHO.
it should be a great fight. IF brock is 100% i think he will take him down and beat the shit out of him. Overeem hasn't looked very good latlely. ha gass's fast and only looks for 1 shot knockouts.
I say he would get owned by cain or carwin. I also think JDS gives him a beating. hell i would even say Big country gives him a fight for his money.
though hell overeem might just nut shot whoever to death.
Great TDD? When is the last time Reem fought someone with NCAA D1 champ wrestling? Rogers and Werdum are hardly take down beasts. Brock hasn't been the last couple fights either, but that is a game plan issue me thinks. He tries to stand with guys, big mistake. Then tries the take down as a desperation move, not a fully committed well timed shot.overeem will win. he seems to have great take down defense.
if brock cant get them on the ground, he's dead
Why is everyone all on Overeem's nutz? Because he beat Brett Rogers and Todd Duffee? B/c he looked pretty horrible against Werdum in one of the weirdest fights ever? Because he looks like a super hero cartoon figure? Yes, I know he won the K1 GP and is a feared striker, but he has never faced anyone at Lesnar's level. People say that Lesnar turtles up when hit, but he was hit by Carwin and Cain, arguably 2 of the heaviest hitters out there. I'm not saying Brock is going to win for sure but to count him out vs Overeem is ridiculous.
I am personally hoping that Brock makes a full recovery; I think he would win if he was at 100%, but we have no idea how well he's recovered from being sick.
From what I had read, Diverticulitis is a pretty nasty illness, combined with the perforation in his intestine it's no wonder he wasn't doing well.
You have to give it to the UFC; their "monopoly" on MMA may not be good for the fighters, but they put on fights that fans want to see.
I'd be interested in seeing Reem's contract. The UFC is notorious for not allowing fighters to fight outside of the UFC. I wonder if Alistair will be allowed to fight K-1 or Dream.
I would also like to see it. IF he cant go outside the UFC, then the smart thing would be to take a 1 year deal, make some big $$ then go back to where he does the best. He wont last in the UFC unless he expands his arsenal IMHO.

UFC only, he said it in an interview with mmafighting
If somehow we had a time machine and could get pre-diverticulitis Brock against Reem, Id say he takes it via TKO. As it stands now, I honestly dont think Brock has been 100% since his initial diagnosis, nor do I think hell ever get back to his former self, so its a pickem. The deciding factor being if and how often and hard Reem can connect as Brock goes for the takedown.
If I were him I wouldnt be fighting. He has a potentially fatal disease thats exacerbated by the stresses placed on his body during training. It makes for a fantastic story and its endlessly intriguing, but this isnt a movie. He could die if he keeps fucking with his health by fighting.
Im curious to see the line. I would expect Reem to be favored, but Im curious by how much. With the exception of Werdum, hes never beaten anyone worth 2 shits at HW.
For the record I wouldnt touch this fight even with Woostas money. Too close to call IMO.
I still don't know how he won that K1 tourney, it was pretty crazy. I'm not going to take anything away from Overeem b/c winning 3 kickboxing matches in 1 night is crazy. But put it this way. Spong seemed to be turning the corner and coming back as Overeem wore out. Stillk, that is an impressive win, Spong may not be top of the K1 food chain, but he's top 15 in the world imo. Saki entered the Overeem match with an injured arm....took 2 kicks to it and had to quit. Aerts is like the Randy Couture of K1 (40 years old) and had just had a grueling 3 round matchup with a beast of a man who was the favorite to win in Schilt. You could see in the finals that Aerts had about 5 good strikes in him before he was done so he went for broke and lost.
Maybe I'm thinking of a different fight, but I thought Spong was mostly dominating Reem in the first round or so and then Reem turned it on in the next two rounds?
I agree overall, though. That is why a 3 fights in one day tourney is stupid and why legit organizations no longer do it. We didn't get to see Reem really tested after Spong and he kind of won by virtue of not being injured or worn out.
